St. Ignatius Hall in Black Jack (well, across the street from Florissant) Missouri, holds about sixty elderly or infirm Jesuits and a healthy Jesuit staff, and this is where I will live and depart when the Lord calls. After a few months here a year and a half ago, I sat praying early in the morning before the sun came up, as I always do.

Well, it was not a good  morning, and the truth is that I was distracted and grouchy even as I was praying.

And then, after I’d emptied my mind and was thinking of nothing in particular, I heard very clearly, I BROUGHT YOU HERE.

It’s something I’d learned several jobs prior.  Maybe in Rome. 

And it has a larger, almost mystical sense that the Providence of God…
