BNicodemus really wanted to understand. He went in the dark to find Jesus and the first thing he hears is that he has to be born again
It was not a good beginning. It will be nearly two thousand years before being “born again” has any meaning that Nicodemus might have understood. Back then, all he could think of us how a man could come out of his mother’s womb again?
Jesus explains at length. You have to be born again of the Spirit. The Son of Man has come from heaven, and He must be raised up like the snake in the desert. That doesn’t help a lot.
God sent the Son into the world not to condemn, but to save the world. He came as light for the world but people prefer the darkness to the light because they don’t want their deeds exposed.
We don’t hear that Nicodemus followed all of this very closely. What we do hear is that he stayed with Jesus to the end, and when the time came to put Hiim in a tomb, Nicodemus was there.
He washed Jesus’ abused body and wrapped it it in a burial sheet and put it in a tomb.. And that’s all we’re told.
But who doubts whether the risen Jesus went promptly to find the brave man who tenderly cleaned His wounded body and carried it to its resting place—until He god up and went to find His faithful friends?
